GDC, Bishnah Celebrated International Mother Tongue Day
The Department of languages of GDC, Bishnah organized poetry recitation competition
today on 23 rd February, 2024 under the banner of International Mother Tongue Day”
with gaiety and fervour. The prestigious event commenced with the synchronization of
lighting of traditional lamp with melodious Bhajans dedicated to Goddess Saraswati. In
this event around 15 students participated and forty attended the function. The young
budding poets enthralled the audience with their poems. Prof. Koushal Kiran, Prof,.
Shivani Raina and Prof. Kusum acted a jury members. As per the judges decision Kajal
scored first, Manish second and Deepanti third position respectively in the competition.
Prof, Koushal Kiran, HOD, urdu, apprised the students about the relevance of mother
tongue in the present times. Prof. Anju Bala, senior faculty of the college while speaking
on the occasion appreciated the students efforts and suggested some improvement for
future. The students took her suggestions positively and assured her to imbibe them in
their life. In the end the vote of thanks extended to all by Dr. Sunil. HOD, Hindi. The
entire programme was coordinated by Dr. Geeta Lakhotra.
GDC Bishnah conducted symposium on Indian women Scientists
NSS Unit of GDC Bishnah in collaboration with Women Development Cell organized a symposium on
Indian Women Scientists under the banner of Beti Bachao Beti Padao as a part of winter camp 2024.
Around ten students participated in this symposium and expressed their view points on the said theme.
Prof. Hardeep Kour, Dr. Vasudha Chaudhari and Dr. Sapna Bhargav judged the event and declared
winners . The first position won by Sonali Of B.A Sem-VI, second by Deepanti of B.A Sem-IV and third by
Kajal Of B.A Sem-IV .Dr. Manohar lal, Principal of the college while speaking on the occasion threw light
over the thematic perspective of the event. He appreciated the speeches of students by his encouraging
words.The entire programme was conducted by Dr. Geeta Lakhotra, NSS Programme officer.
NSS Unit of GDC Bishnah organized a visit to Hospital Bishnah where student got awareness lecture on Blood transfusion , tuberculosis and HIV AIDS.
NSS Unit of GDC Bishnah organized a visit to Hospital Bishnah where student got
awareness lecture on Blood transfusion , tuberculosis and HIV AIDS. Not only this
students sojourned in emergency where they saw how to give ABC treatment in
case of accidents.After the hospital visit students participated in the round table
conversation on the topic “Nasha Mukt Bharat”. This round table discussion was
conducted in collaboration with Hr. Secondary Boys Bishnah . During the
discussion the NSS Volunteers and students of Hr. Secondary shared their opinion
on drugs. Along with the problem students suggested some positive measures to
prevent drug abuses cases in society. Dr. Manohar Lal, principal of the college
lauded the ideas of students on drugs.The entire programme was conducted
under the able administration of Principal Dr. Manohar Lal and Dr. Geeta Lakhotra
took the initiative of this visit that comes under winter camp 2024.
GDC Bishnah organized a visit to Govt. Hospital Bishnah.
A visit to Govt. Hospital Bishnah has been organized by the Red Ribbon Club of
GDC Bishnah. The purpose of the visit is to aware the students about the various
facilities provided by the Hospital. More than 30 students have participated in the
visit. The students visited to different wards of the hospital along with the team of
the hospital who provide the information about the first AID and emergency
facilities provided by the hospital. The visit was ended with the interaction of the
students with Dr. Nirupum Gupta and Dr. Niteeka. They share the important
information about the topics HIV/AIDS, TB and blood donation with the students.
They also talk about the various initiative taken by the Ministery of Health and
Family Welfare to accelerate the country’s progress towards TB elimination by
2025. The programme was organized under the able guidance of Dr. Manohar
Lal, Principal of the college. The whole program was organized and coordinated
by Dr. Ratika Sharma and Dr. Ashma Gupta , Nodal officers of Red Ribbon Club.
GDC Bishnah organized awareness programme on Blood donation.
An extension lecture has been organized by the Red Ribbon Club of GDC Bishnah
on the theme “Awareness about blood donation”. Mr. Vishal Arora and Mr.
Yashwant Yadav (Founder of Jammu Blood Donors ,NGO) were the speakers for
the programme. They talk about the importance of blood donation society. Blood
donors are crucial in ensuring adequate blood supply for medical emergencies
and procedures. More than 30 students as well as all the staff members have
attended the lecture.The programme was started with a formal welcome address
by Dr. Ratika Sharma. During the occasion Dr. Manohar Lal, Principal of the
college also encourages the students about blood donation. The programme
was organized and coordinated by Dr. Ratika Sharma and Dr. Ashma Gupta ,
Nodal officers of Red Ribbon Club. During the program the prizes and certificates
were also distributed among the students that have participated in various Red
Ribbon Activities .In the end the vote of thanks was extended by Dr. Sunil Kumar
Saliada(HOD Hindi).
GDC Bishnah Observance of Silence on 30 th January, 2024 Martyr’s Day.
GDC Bishnah observed Silence on 30 th January, 2024 (Martyr’s Day) in the memory of those
who sacrificed their lives during struggle for India’s freedom. To observe silence faculty
members , NSS Volunteers, and students gathered in front of main building and observed
silence for two minutes which commenced at 11:00 a.m. and ended at 11:02 a.m. After the
ritual Principal, Prof. Anju Bala addressed the students and apprised them about the
importance of the Day. In the end vote of thanks extended to all there.
Inauguration of Road Safety Month and Voter’s Day event held in GDC, Bishnah.
NSS wing in collaboration with Electoral literary club celebrated National Voter’s Day and
also inaugurated the Road Safety month (which commenced on 15th January to 14th February
2024) by taking out rally in Bishnah market. In these programmes around 80 students
participated. To mark the occasion of voter’s day, a slogan writing completion was held on
the theme “Nothing like voting, I vote for sure” in which students expressed their opinion on
the significance of National Voter’s Day. Prof. Shrotika Rajput, convener Electoral Literacy
club sensitized the students about their electoral rights and process of registration. Dr.
Kouushal Kiran Thacker, convener social activity club also expressed her opinion on role of
electoral system in India. Dr. Geeta Lakhotra, NSS. PO, and Dr. Sapna Bargav, convener, Road
Safety Month threw light on traffic rule observance while driving any vehicle. Dr. Manohar
Lal, Principal of the college encouraged the students and insisted them to disseminate
information on casting of the votes for strong democracy. Dr. Koushal Kiran Thacker,
convener social activity club also expressed her opinion on role of electoral system in India.

GDC Bishnah organized a special programme to celebrate New year eve
today on 30 th Dec 2023 The DSP Nikhil Gogan and SHO Bishnah Abid
Hussain Bukhari were the chief guests of the occasion . The Programme
commenced with the lightening of traditional lamp with the chanting of
Holy mantras and the formal welcome address delivered by Dr. Geeta
Lakhotra, NSS programme officer .On this occasion students mesmerized
the audience with their dancing and singing skills. While speaking on this
occasion DSP encouraged the students and advised them to channelize
their energy in positive ways. The SHO also interacted with the students
and appreciated them. To motivate the students for their prospective
future, the police Department department distributed gifts among the
students. At the end , the vote of thanks was also extended to the
dignitaries and guests and the programme concluded with the recitation
of National Anthem

The program was adjudged by Prof. Rashmi Arya, Prof. Neetika and Prof. Mohika.
Tiwali devi bagged ist position, Nittin Kumar stood second and Vanshika sharma
stood third in the competition.

Moreover students also facilitated with prizes whereas In the Quiz competition Bansi ,Omkar, Sahil, Sonali,Rahul named as (SAPTAK ) team Secured 1st prize. Principal Dr. Manohar Lal encouraged the students to participate in such programmes and improve their qualities. Senior teaching faculty and staff members were also present there.

GDC Bishnah organised awareness programmes on World AIDS day. Red Ribbon Club of GDC Bishnah in collaboration with J and K AIDS control society organised various programmes ( Poster making competition and Human Chain) to commemorate World AIDS day on 1st and 2nd December 2023.Students as well as faculty of the college participated in the program. The aim of the program was to create awareness among the students on the various reasons for the spread of the disease and the possible precautionary measures that should be taken to avoid the spread of AIDS.The poster making competition was adjudged by Dr Vasudha Chaudhari (HoD Zoology), Prof.Amit Sharma (HoD Pol.Sc), Dr Asha Singh (HoD EVS). The program was coordinated by Dr Ratika Sharma and Dr Ashma Gupta (Nodal officers, Red Ribbon club). The program was organised under the guidance of Dr Anju Bala. In the poster making competition Ist prize was bagged by Smriti Bassan, Arshpreet kour and Muskaan Bharti secured the 2nd position and 3rd position was shared by Smile kokadia and Deepanti. The Principal of the college Dr Manohar Lal distributed the prizes as well as the participation certificates among the students on 2nd December 2023.
GDC Bishnah organized field visit to Sitli Water Treatment Plant, Nagrota
Department of Environmental Sciences of GDC Bishnah organized a field visit to Sitli Water Treatment Plant located in Nagrota, Jammu on 16th November 2023. Students of semester 5th of the college participated in this environmental trip. This visit was organized by Dr. Asha Singh, Head, Department of Environmental Sciences under the guidance of Principal of the college, Dr. Manohar Lal.
The field visit was aimed at letting students get an insight of all technical concepts regarding treatment of wastewater and pollution management. Technical experts toured the students through the different units of whole treatment plant and explained different steps and processes of the treatment plant. Students exchanged views and solved their queries with technical experts of the treatment plant and got the necessary exposure. They also got to learn new concepts and gained good experience regarding environmental management.
Dr. Shallu Rani, Head, Department of Dogri also accompanied the students during the visit. Principal, Dr. Manohar Lal congratulated the students for the visit and further appreciated the efforts of the organizers for the visit and emphasized on organization of more such environmental trips in near future.
Department of Education, Govt. Degree College Bishnah organized an Awareness Programme
Dr. Preeti Mahajan, HOD, Departments of Education, Govt. Degree College, Bishnah organized an Awareness Programme on 'Child Rights and Juvenile Protection Act 2015' under My Constitution My Pride Programme on 8th November, 2023 for the college students under the able guidance of the Principal, Dr Manohar Lal.
Prof. Amit Kumar Sharma, HOD, Political Science department was the speaker and he delivered an interactive lecture on the said topic. He in his impressive presentation updated about the child rights in India and also highlighted the role of Juvenile Protection Act 2015 in creating a society free from crime and cruelty.
The Principal of the college in his address also encouraged students to adopt healthy practices for the safety and security of children of the society and maintain the sanctity of our Constitution.
The students had a very healthy interaction with the speaker at the end of the lecture.

The NSS unit of GDC Bishnah in Collaboration with the Vigilance Officer and APIO GDC Bishnah organized an Awareness Lecture on the theme "Say No to Corruption, Commit to the Nation" as part of Vigilance Awareness Week-2023.The resource person for the ocassion was Sh Kamal Sangra, Senior Inspector and Investigative Officer Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB).Sh Kamal Sangra first introduced the students to the importance of the celebration of Vigilance Awareness. Then he focused on the provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, formation of Central Vigilance Commision, Anti Corruption Bureau and their role in keeping the check on corruption in the public offices. He elaborated on the role of Satyaendra Dubey, to highlight the commitment of the public servant in fight against corruption.Speaking on the ocassion, Dr Manohar Lal, Principal of the college exhorted the students to adopt probity in their lifestyle and secure the future of the country by creating Corruption free atmosphere. The NSS unit of GDC Bishnah organized an Amrut Kalash Yatra in the college campus as part
of Meri Mati Mera Desh Campaign.Prof. Amit Kumar Sharma , NSS Programme Officer
initiated the programme with the introduction of Meri Mati Mera Desh campaign that has the
theme Mitti Ko Naman, Veeron Ko Vandhan . Dr Manohar Lal, Principal of the college
alongwith the teaching faculty and students poured the soil brought by the students from the
homes of serving/retired soldiers and those of Martyrs, into the Amrut Kalash for the purpose.
After this, Dr Sunil Salaida read the Paanch Pran Pledge and Principal, Teaching Faculty and
Students took the Paanch Pran Pledge as part of the campaign. The students then carried out the
Amrut Kalash Yatra in the college campus shouting the slogans Mitti ko Naman, Veeron ko
Vandhan, Bharat Mata ki Jai,Vande Matram, Meri Mati Mera Desh. Dr Manohar Lal, Principal
of the college exhorted the students to develop the feeling of nationalism and always
remember the sacrifices of Our Freedom Fighters so as to take forward the torch of
freedom for the further development of the country.

jayanti a series of activities such as solo singing, poetry , collage making competition held on 19th
September August 2023. Students performed the above activities with a lot of enthusiasm and
enthralled the audience with their presentations.

In continuation with the series of events on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti celebrations, a symposium was organized on 15-09-2023 on the topic 'Truth and Non violence in GDC Bishnah. Dr.Manohar Lal, principal of the college, was the chief guest. The aim of the event was to acquaint the students about the ideology of Gandhiji. Among various students, Deepanti stood first, Sukaniya stood second and Akrity stood third. Prof Priyanka, Prof Sumit Gupta and Dr. Shallu Rani were members of jury. The program was attended by all the faculty members.

Govt. Degree College Bishnah celebrated "Hindi Diwas" on 14th of sept, 2023 at 12.00 p.m. The day was celebrated with fervor and enthusiasm and an "essay writing programme" was organized by the Department of Hindi . the programme was conducted by the HOD of Hindi, Dr. Sunil Kumar Saliada, who spoke on the importance and relevance of Hindi Language in our day today life and career prospect in earning our livelihood. All the teachers and students were present in the programme. Principal of the college Dr. Manohar lal also spoke on the occasion and encouraged the students.

The Ten Days' Theatre Workshop being organized by Departments of English, Punjabi and Dogri, Govt Degree College Bishnah concluded today with the performance of the short Play 'Swaal'.

The workshop aimed to provide a platform to students to showcase their talent and the play was a testimony to it.
Sh Deepak Kumar, founder of the Rang yug theatre in Jammu and Resource Person of the workshop, imparted different techniques of the theatre like building of focus, visualization of scene, concentration etc.
Principal of the college, Dr. Manohar Lal, appreciated the performance of the students and thanked the resource person for his efforts. Dr. Sapna Bhargav compered the session and Dr. Randheer Kour presented a vote of thanks.
The program concluded with certificate distribution to the participants. The program was attended by all the faculty members.

Government Degree College Bishnah inaugurated Ten Days Theatre Workshop on 04 August 2023. The inauguration commenced with the welcome address by Dr Shalu Rani followed by the Dr Nisar Ahmed Bullah words emphasising on the role of Internal Quality Assurance Cell of GDC Bishnah. Dr Sapna Bhargav compered the whole programme and introduced the resource person Mr Deepak Kumar to the students and teachers of the GDC Bishnah Mr Deepak Kumar from Rangyug theatre group was also the key speaker of the inaugural. The resource person emphasised on the role of theatre in educating the masses and the medium of social change. Principal GDC Bishnah Dr Manohar Lal was the programme chair. He congratulated the programme organisers and coordinators Dr Randheer Kour from Department of Punjabi, Dr Shallu Rani from Department of Dogri and Dr Sapna Bhargav from Department of English for their endeavours and commitment to the programme. The participants of the workshop were the students of English, Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi and Dogri literature who have been taught the theoretical aspects of Theatre/Natak and this workshop will introduce them to the practical part of theatre.
Symposium Competition on Climate Change organised in GDC Bishnah
Under the banner of G 20 and Mission Life, Department of Environmental Sciences of GDC Bishnah organized a symposium competition on the topic "Climate Change" on 27h May 2023. The whole programme was conducted under the supervision of Principal GDC Bishnah, Dr. Manohar Lal. Dr. Asha Singh, Head, Department of Environmental Sciences of the college coordinated the whole event. She also gave presentation on "Global Challenge of climate change in 21st Century" and threw light on impacts of climate change and measures to reduce carbon footprints.
Students from different semesters participated in the symposium and lashed their views on the topic. Overall, Rishi Kumar from 6th semester won 1st position, Manas Mishra from 6th Semester clinched 2nd position and Sourav Kumar from 6th Semester won 3rd position. Principal GDC Bishnah, Dr. Manohar Lal congratulated the winners and motivated the students to reduce their carbon footprints. Prof. Amit Kumar Sharma, Prof. Rashmi Arya, Prof Rekha and other faculty members were also present during the programme. The festival was inaugurated with the performance of Saraswati Vandana by the students of the Music department. The students of Government Degree College Bishnah have performed folk dances and folk songs of Punjabi and Dogri. Rajni, Sounty and Shivani, the students from Dogri Department recited the poems on Baisakhi. On this auspicious occasion college Magazine committee released the annual magazine "Sahityaki". Speaking on the occasion, Professor Archana Bakshi, convener, college magazine committee and chief editor of magazine editorial board, highlighted the importance of such magazines and congratulated the contributors on the first edition of the college magazine. To begin with, Prof Amit Kumar Sharma, NSS Programme Officer welcomed the Worthy Principal, staff members and the students of the college and introduced them to the life and contributions of Dr BR Ambedkar. A large number of students participated in the symposium. The jury comprised of Prof Rashmi Arya, Prof Priyanka Mahajan and Dr Sunil Salaida and they adjudicated the performance of the speakers on the basis of Content, Pronunciation and diction. Vishesh Sharma of Sem-VI bagged 1st Prize, Arti Sharma of Sem-IV won 2nd Prize and Riya of Sem-IV was adjudged as 3rd. All the winners and participants were given mementos. GDC Bishnah organized field visit to Gharana Wetland, R.S. Pura.
Department of Environmental Sciences of GDC Bishnah organized a field visit to Gharana Wetland located in R.S. Pura, Jammu on 6th April 2023. Students of semester 6th of the college participated in this environmental trip. This visit was organized by Dr. Asha Singh, Head, Department of Environmental Sciences under the guidance of Principal of the college, Dr. Manohar Lal.
Gharana wetland is an internationally recognised site of ecological importance. This wetland is a wintering site for hundreds of migratory birds including bar headed geese. The field visit was aimed at letting students get an insight of importance of this wetland as a habitat of migratory birds. With the help of binoculars various species of birds viz. Bar Headed Geese, Cormorant, Common Coot were watched by students. The students toured around the wetland and observed all the environmental problems associated with the wetland. Students also exchanged views with the local villagers regarding different problems associated with the wetland. During this visit the students gained good experience regarding role of wetlands in maintaining ecological balance.
Dr. Shallu Rani, Head, Department of Dogri also accompanied the students during the visit. Principal, Dr. Manohar Lal congratulated the students for the visit and further appreciated the efforts of the organizers for the visit and emphasized on organization of more such environmental trips in near future.

Maharashtra from 1l'h to 13th December 2A22. He has participated in Junior World Cup
held at Hungary frorn 7'r' to 9'h January 2CI23. He has won Silver Medal in Khelo lndia
Youth Games held at Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh fi'om 5th to 1 lth Febru ary 2023. Principal

Career Counseliing Cell of Government Degree College, Bishnah in collaboration
with Skyline Placement Services Jammu Organized Two Days Career Counseliing
Prograrame cum Placement Drive on 16th and 17th January, 2023. This Career Counselling
programme was conducted under the supervision of Dr.Manohar Lal,principal GDC
Bishnah.
Mr. Tarun Mahajan, Managing Director, Skyline Placement Services, Jammu, was the
resource person of this programme. Mr. Tarun Mahajanin his elaborated presentation
explained in detail different types of job oppurtunities/services offered by their placement
service in different sectors like Banking, Retail, Pharma, Finance etc and also guided the
students from all three semesters regarding different incentives associated with opening of
certain accounts like Demat account. Mr Rakesh Singh from Tata AIG and Sunil Singh from
Induslnd Bank, Bari Brahmna also made the students aware regarding scope in insurance
sector and other private sectors.
Dr. Asha Singh, Coordinator, Career Counselling Cell of the college coordinated the
whole programme cum placement Drive was attended by nearly 200
participants, followed by an interactive session where all the queries of the students were
addressed. Many students showed keen interest and registered themselves for further training

Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda by organizing an awareness programme on Life and
Philosophy of Swami Vivekananda and Viksit Yuva, Visit Bharat.To begin with all the staff
members and students paid floral tribute to Swami Vivekanandaji.The Sneha , Vishesh and
Abhishek of Sem-V, Sonali and Priyanka of Sem-I threw light on the life and philosophy of
Swami Vivekanandaji.Speaking on the ocassion, Dr Manohar Lal, Principal of the college

GDC Bishnah with a aim of Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign under the ageis of Azadi Ka Amrit
Mahotsav (AKAM) organized the series of programmes to invoke the spirit of patriotism among
the students. The campaign was started with a set format of activity schedule comprises of
academic and cultural. The programme was inaugurated with the lightening of the traditional
lamp followed by the pinning ceremony of Tiranga Flag badges.Head of the institution ,
Principal, teachers and the participants to create the ambience of patriot fervor where the
students expressed their feelings through their art. The first activity was presented by Language
promotion club in collaboration with Dogri Department. The patriotic poetry recitation
programme was organized where the students from Dogri department recited nation spiritual
poems with great enthusiasm.

Red Ribbon Club and Department of Environmental Sciences of GDC Bishnah in
collaboration with Jammu & Kashmir AIDS Control Society organized Extempore competition
on the theme “Myths and Facts regarding AIDS” to mark celebration of World AIDS Day,
2022.
The programme started with welcome address by Dr. Asha Singh, Head, Department of
Environmental Sciences. Further, Dr. Sheetu Raina, Nodal Incharge, Red Ribbon Club and Head,
Department of Zoology explained in detail the myths and facts associated with AIDS. Dr.
Manohar Lal, College principal also shared his views on the theme and appreciated the efforts of
students and organisers of the event.
The competition was judged by Dr. Sunil Kumar Saliada from Dept. of Hindi, Prof.
Sumit Gupta from Dept. of Maths and Prof. Shivani Raina from Dept. of Music. Among all the
participants, Manvinder Singh from 1 st semester won 1 st position and Tarru Bharti from 1 st
semester clinched 2 nd position whereas Harsh Dev Singh from 3 rd semester bagged 3 rd position.

organized a National event under the theme Nasha Mukt Bharat
Abhiyaan (NMBA) Interaction with NCC Cadets and Youth on 12 th
September, 2022 at 4:00 PM. Sh. Rajnath Singh, Hon’ble Raksha Mantri
graded the event which was hosted by Dr. Virendra Kumar, Minister of
Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. In this
connection, Dr. Sheetu Raina, Head, Department of Zoology made
necessary arrangements for mass viewing of the event online for all the
students of the College. This event created mass awareness among the
students about the drugs and their drastic implications on the health.

GDC Bishnah organized Online Quiz competition on HIV /AIDS Awareness
The Red ribbon club of college had organised a college level
Quiz competition based on the basic knowledge of HIV/AIDS,
adolescent health, mental health etc .Six students of B.Sc semester-II
had participated in the quiz competition. The main motive of the
programme is to actively involve and engage youth in disseminating
the information related to HIV/AIDS. The observer/ judges of the
program were Dr. Nisar Ahmed Bulla (HOD Chemistry) and Dr.
Asha Singh (HOD EVS). The Ist position and second position in the
quiz competition were begged by Harkirit Singh and Sagar Sharma
respectively. Dr. Manohar Lal , Principal of the college congratulated

in different activities being organised in the college. The entire

The main motive of this program is aware the students about the contribution of the important
scientists in Physics and such programs are also important to enhance the personality of the students .In
the second program of this series four students gave the detailed contribution of Dr C.V.Raman in
Physics. More than 30 students of physics department was presented in the seminar. The whole
program was coordinated by Dr. Ratika Sharma(HOD Physics).It was organized under the guidance of
worthy principal Dr. Anuradha Pandoh. . The program was ended with the distribution of certificate to

hoisted the National Flag followed by singing of National Anthem by the
students and staff of the college. A cultural programme was also
organized by the students. The students sang patriotic songs and
recited patriotic poems. They also performed a skit portraying the
ideals set by the Freedom Fighters and how the youth need to follow
the same while fighting against the evils like drug abuse.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Anuradha Pandoh Principal of the college
urged the students to further strengthen the National Unity and take
country to unprecedented heights by following the ideal path shown
by our freedom fighters.

Sikh Isai aapas main hai Bhai Bhai. The Tiranga rally went through the Bishnah Town and
awarded the passer byes and shopkeepers about the importance of National Flag and urged
them to hoist the same on their roof top.The Rally culminated at the College with the singing of
National Anthem. Speaking on the ocassion, Dr Anurandha Pandoh, Principal of the college
highlighted the importance of the national flag whose colours symbolize the sacrifice, peaceful
coexistence and prosperity and urged the students to spread the message far and wide in their

inculcate a sense of patriotism in the young minds of students. The Judges for the
above said program were Prof. Archana Bakshi (HOD, English), Dr. Ratika
Sharma (HOD, Physics) and Prof. Sumit Gupta (HOD Mathematics). The first
prize was given to Roshni, Tanya Devi, Shagun Chamel, second Prize was secured
by Harkirat Singh, Manan Singh, Pankaj Kumar & Vivek Dogra and third prize
was secured by Divya Meenia, Roshni Kumari, Mamta Devi & Afsana Kosar,
whereas First consolation prize was given to Janvi Kumari, Pooja Rani and second

The campaign was started with a set format of activity schedule comprises of academic and cultural. The programme was inaugurated with the lightening of the traditional lamp followed by the pinning ceremony of Tiranga Flag badges.Head of the institution Principal, teachers and the participants to create the ambience of patriot fervor where the students expressed their feelings through their art. The first activity was presented by Language promotion club in collaboration with Dogri Department. The patriotic poetry recitation programme was organized where the students from Dogri department recited nation spiritual poems with great enthusiasm. The principal appreciated this exuberant feeling of students and encouraged them to continue

in physics subject" . The jury for whole series comprises of Dr. Suman Bala (HOD
Botanyi and Frof. Kashab Kumar {HOD History}. The rnain motive of this program
is aware the students about the contribution of the important scientists in
FhrTsics and such progranns also important to enhance the persionality of the
students. ln the first program of this series three students gave the detailed
contribution of Sir Albert Einstein in Fhysics. More than 30 students of physics
department was presented in the seminar. The whole program was coordinated
by Dr. Ratika Sharrna {HOD Physics}. lt was organlsed under the guidance of
worthy principal Dr. Anuradha Pandoh. The program was ended with the
distribution of certificate to the participants.

occasion a Guest lecture was organized by Department of Botany. Sh. O P Sharma Vidyarthi
(IFS), Former Principal Chief Conservator of forest, Govt. of J&K was the resource person and
the topic of the lecture was “Sacred Groves and the Heritage Trees of J&K.” He stressed that our
UT is having rich Tree diversity. Many of the trees are 300-400 years of age and have their
historical background .Thus they should be considered as heritage Trees .He further discussed
their medicinal importance and stressed that better way to conserve and preserve these trees is to
relate them with some sacred place or religion. Dr Suman Bala Sharma Convener Ecoclub and
Head Department of Botany coordinated the whole program. In her welcome address she said
that Van Mahotsav week is celebrated throughout India to encourage people to plant more and
more trees as they are being cut down on a large scale for industrialization and urbanization.
Trees are the lungs of nature besides having much other importance. The aim of celebrating
Van Mahotsav is to encourage the students to plant more and more trees and also to spread
awareness among the students and public in general about the local trees, forests , its
conservation , its preservation and to save the environment as a whole. Principal of the College
Dr. Anuradha Pandoh was also present on the occasion. She appreciated the effort of Ecoclub in
celebrating Van Mahotsav week by organizing different activities throughout the week. She
encouraged the students not only to plant trees but also asked them to take care of those trees
also. Department of music also collaborated for celebration of Van Mahotsav. Prof Shivani
Raina HOD, Department of music presented three items, Poem recitation, group song and a skit

were the judges. In the competition Shivagi khullar of Sem-II bagged first position, Micky
Verma of sem 4, bagged 2nd position, and Tania Mehra of sem- 4 stood 3rd position repectively.
On 4th July Department of Political Science organized an invited lecture on the topic "Climate
Change: Issues and Political Response". Prof Shaveta Chowdhary, Department of Political
Science, GDC R.S.Pura was the resource person .Prof Amit Kr Sharma, Coordinated the
Programme . Prof Shaveta Chowdhary explained the definition of Climate Change as given by
IPCC and UNFCCC, the various issues of climate change and the Common but Differentiated

On 5th July a plantation drive was conducted by Department of Botany and Zoology.

and 28 th . the team was led by the chairperson Dr. K. ManiMekalai Kalidhasan (Chairperson)
and members Dr. Kishor Mahendra Joshi as a (member Coordinator), Dr. Donatus Kujur
as a (Member), Dr. G.Sudarshana Reddy as a (observer). They were experts from
different domains of knowledge to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the college.
The principal of the college, Dr. Anuradha Pandoh and co-ordinator IQAC, Dr. Alka
Sharma gave their presentation on the activities undertaken by the college in the last
five years. NAAC team visited various departments and had interaction with the staff.
They also reviewed various facilities in the college. Later on, a cultural event was

The two day visit concluded with an exit meeting where NAAC peer team chairperson
gave her observation and recommendations and then she handed over the assessment

importance in the fields of Botany, Zoology and Environmental Sciences. Chief
Guest Sh. Ashwani Sharma while addressing the staff and students of the

per the proposal submitted to the IQAC by the Development
Committee to facilitate the proper hygiene of the girl students of the
college. It was inaugurated by the Principal of the college, Dr. Anuradha

members and the students. As an outcome of an earlier lecture
delivered by Dr Varsha on ‘Women Health and Hygiene’, a common
feedback for this facility was submitted by the girl students. In response
to the feedback, the Principal of the college assured the prompt
disposal of the same. She has promised to provide such health facilities
to the students as and when required for the overall development of

Opportunities associated with them andstudents can generate revenue for their

Lok Sahitiya Te Sanskriti ". The resource person for the program was Dr. Sushma Rani, from
Ministry of Culture and the chief guest of the occasion was the principal of the college, Dr.
Anuradha Pandoh. The aim of the lecture was to aware the students about the exquisite
survival of Dogri Culture and language . She also briefed the students about the topics they
have in their syllabi and educated them regarding the historical background of the subject. The
lecture was conducted under the supervision of head of the department Dr. Sarita Khajuria, who

Medicine) on 13 th of June, 2022. Students have studied and also procured medical and
aromatic plants to be planted in the Botanical Garden of the College. Students also visited
SKUAST (Sher e Kashmir University of Agriculture, Sciences and Technology) to
understand the technique of Hydroponics. Mr. Gurdev Chand, Assistant Professor in
SKUAST, briefed about the technique of Hydroponics and its implementation. He further
emphasized that by using this technique, students can earn their livelihood and can
generate revenue by such kind small investmens. They can grow vegetables, fruits, fodder
crops especially those who don’t have large agricultural land for sowing these crops. The
whole visit was organized by Dr. Suman Bala Sharma (HOD Botany) and Dr. Sheetu
Raina (HOD Zoology). Dr. Sudesh Kumar also accompanied the visit.
GDC Bishnah organizes Bicycle Rally to mark the World Environment
Day and Bicycle Day
The NSS unit of Govt Degree College Bishnah organized a Bicycle Rally to mark the Bicycle Day
and World Environment Day. Dr Anuraha Pandoh, Principal of the college flagged off the rally
from the college campus. The theme of the Bicycle Rally was CycletoGreen. Nearly 12 NSS
volunteers alongwith the NSS Programme Officer, Prof Amit Kumar Sharma participated in the
rally.The rally starting from college campus went through the Chak Bana then passed through
the Adopted Panchayat Ratnal and finally culminated at the college campus again.During the
rally, highlighting the importance of Bicycle for the health and environment ,the NSS volunteers
shouted the slogans like ‘Balle Balle Cycle Chalande Chalo, Apni Sehat Banande Chalo’ ‘Cycle ko
Phir Se Apnana hai, Vatavaran Swachh Banana Hai’ ‘Cycle di Karo Swari, Na Pradhushan Na
Bimari’. Dr Anuradha Pandoh, Principal of the college appreciated the zeal and enthusiasm
shown by the NSS volunteers in organizing the Bicycle Rally to disseminate the awareness on
Environmental Protection and Health Benefits of using Bicycle. After the culmination of the
Bicycle Rally at college campus, the NSS volunteers were served water with Glucose and light

World Environment Day Celebrated at GDC Bishnah
On the occasion of “World Environment Day” Department of Environmental Sciences
of GDC Bishnah organized a symposium competition on the topic “Only One Earth” on 4 th
June 2022. The whole programme was conducted under the supervision of Principal GDC
Bishnah, Dr. Anuradha Pandoh. Dr. Asha Singh, Head, Deapartment of Environmental
Sciences of the college coordinated the whole event. She also gave presentation on “Global
Challenges of 21 st Century” and threw light on Environmental issues like climate change.
Students from different semesters participated in the symposium and lashed their
views on the topic. The performances of the students were adjudged by the jury comprising
Dr. Sushma Kumari from Department of Dogri, Prof. Sunil Kumar from Department of Urdu
and Prof. Shivani Raina from Department of Music on the basis of their content,

Department of Environmental Sciences, GDC Bishnah organised an intra-collegiate
slogan writing competition on the theme “Be Disaster Aware- Take Action to Prepare” on 31 st
May 2022. This Competition was organised by Dr. Asha Singh, Head, Department of
Environmental Sciences, GDC Bishnah under the guidance of honourable Principal Dr.
Anuradha Pandoh.
Among all the participants, Vishal Sharma of 6 th Semeter won 1 st position, Renu Bala of
6 th Semester clinched 2 nd position and Sheetal Nanda of 6 th Semester bagged 3 rd position, whereas
Arun Arman and Surjeet Singh Charak from 6 th Semester won Consolation Prizes.
This competition was judged by Dr. Ratika Sharma from Department of Physics, Dr.
Sapna Bhargav from Department of English and Dr. Shallu Rani from Department of Dogri. All

under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav organized an awareness program on Worlds Anti
Tobacco Day i.e on 31 st May, 2022. The motive of the program was to raise awareness on the
harmful and deadly effects of Tobacco use and second-hand smoke exposure and to discourage
the use of tobacco in any form. Students generated the awareness by giving oral presentations,
power point presentations and by doing skits to strongly pass a message to the society about the
deleterious and drastic impact of Tobacco useon human health. Dr.Anuradha Pandoh, Principal
of the College also encouraged students for doing such kind of activities and stressed upon the
need of awareness about inhibition of tobacco intake in an form.All the staff members, non-
teaching staff and students were present in the program. The event was coordinated by Dr.
Suman Bala Sharma, HOD Botany and organized by Dr. Sheetu Raina (HOD Zoology) and Dr.

Pandoh organise one day workshop on Entrepreneurship under the ageis of Azadi
ka Amrit Mahotsav. Resource person of the program is Mr. Udit Pandoh CEO of
Aloste Technologies. He throws light on different job opportunities in various
sectors and how to start different start ups by new entrant in business fields. He
also discussed the different financial aids which is provided by different
government schemes. He also told students that looking for job in different
government sectors takes much time but if students have grit and determination
in them they can start their business. He also share his experience that how he
started and how he reached at this level through hard work and support from
government. Government is encouraging and supporting such new entrants.
Students shows lots of enthusiasm in this and they have benefitted alot from this
webinar.

of NEP 2020 in Higher Education Institution was organized by IQAC
GDC Bishnah under the guidance of Dr. Anuradha Pandoh , Principal of
the college. The speaker for the lecture was Dr. J.N. Baliya Head of the
Department of Educational studies Central , University of Jammu.
The programme was attended by all the faculty members of the college
as well as the faculty from the other colleges. Dr. Alka Sharma HOD of
education welcomed the resource person and gave him formal
introduction . During the talk Dr. Baliya elaborated the opportunity and
challenges to implement NEP 2020. He discussed the whole document
and shared his knowledge and experience regarding NEP 2020. The talk
was ended with the interactive session with all the participants. On this
occasion , the principal of the college also had spoken about the
importance of such programmes to educate and train the faculty about
NEP 2020.The certificates of participation were also distributed at the
end of the programme.

species have degraded to an alarming state. Therefore it is high time to take proper
action for conservation, preservation and management of these biological resources
for future. Such type of activities can play a key role in sensitising and generating aware among the students and public in general. The whole program was

organized a Two Days’ Workshop on Yoga as part of prelude to International Yoga Day on 21 st
June,2022. Sh Sandeep Sharma, Yoga Teacher and Evaluator, Indian Yoga Association, Ministry
of Ayush, Govt of India was the resource person for the workshop. To begin with, Dr Anuradha
Pandoh, Principal of the college welcomed the Resource Person, Sh Sandeep Sharma by
presenting him a plant sapling of Neem tree.On the first day of the workshop, he explained the
significance of Yoga as unity between Purusha (Consciousness) and Prakriti (Matter) and
emphasized that Yoga is not a mere set of exercise as goes the popular view on yoga. He then
practically imparted the students and faculty members the sukshama vyayam for the all the
joints of the body.The yoga asanas Naukasana, Bujangasana, Taadasana, Dhanurasana,
Chakrasana and Yog Nidra Abyas to relax the whole body. On the 2 nd Day of the workshop, he
made the students and faculty members practice Jeevan Tatva Sadhna to maintain whole spinal
cord system, Utaanpadasana, Naukaasana, marjariasana, Dhanurasana to build muscle
strength, Pranayam practice/ breathing exercises Kapalabhati, Anulom Bilom, Bramari
pranayam and meditation practice to stay mentally and emotionally fit. Dr Anuradha Pandoh,
while speaking on the occasion exhorted the students to adopt a healthy, disciplined and
focused way of life by practicing yoga regularly at home and also asked them to act as the
ambassadors of yoga and disseminate the importance of Yoga. The whole programme was
coordinated by Prof Amit Kumar Sharma, PO NSS and Dr Suman Bala, Convenor Eco Club. All
the staff members and students applauded the command of the resource person over the Yoga
Asanas.Later the Principal of the college presented Memento to the Yoga Teacher Sh Sandeep
Sharma and Yoga Demonstrator, Gourav. The Formal Vote of thanks was presented by Dr Sunil

Mahotsav organises lecture and interactive talk with Dr. Varsha Sharma on the
topic “Women health and hygiene” where she deliberated upon the necessity of
awareness regarding the women hygiene which is generally ignored by the female
but it required utmost attention for their well being. Dr. Varsha has also
suggested some measures to maintain health particularly women. She extensively
talked about the role of balanced diet among the young female and deficiencies
of various nutrients. She answered the queries of female students and educate
them. Principal Dr. Anuradha pandoh appreciated this event and personally
involved into the interactive session which motivated the students as well as
committee to conduct such programme.

Kour and Prof Amit Sharma. Suryansh Sharma is a first semester student of BA

May, 2022 on the topic “Global Climate Change with special reference to Biodiversity loss,
Physiological Stress Response and Environmental Consequences”. The program was coordinated by
Dr.Sheetu Raina, Head, Department of Zoology and the main aim of the programwas to aware
studentsabout the changing trends in climategloballyand its impact on the ecosystems and loss of
Biodiversity. She stressed upon that Global Climate Changes have drastic and dramatic impact on natural
environments, plants and animal species leading to acceleration in biodiversity loss in most of the areas
on the earth. The impacts will have knock on effects for many communities and sectors that depend on
natural resources including agriculture, fisheries, energy, tourism, water supplyetc. Moreover, frequent
changes in climate like intense droughts, storms, heat waves and warming oceans can directly harm the
whole Biodiversity and wreak havoc on human’s livelihoods and other communities of the
ecosystem.Principal Dr.Anuradha Pandoh also encouraged the students to participate in such type of
activities.Many students of the college participated in the program. Jury member for evaluation of Essay

GDC Bishnah organises National Seminar on “Scope of Indian Music in the field of Performing Arts” by Ms Ragini Rainu
One Day National webinar on the topic “Scope of Indian music in the field of performing arts” was organised by the career counselling cell of Government Degree College, Bishnah, Jammu in collaboration with Department of Music, on 13th April 2022. Ragini Rainu, India's young Sufi Diva, was the key speaker as well as performer of the programme.
This webinar was conducted under the supervision of Principal GDC Bishnah, Dr. Anuradha Pandoh and the whole event was coordinated by Dr. Asha Singh, Coordinator, Career Counselling Cell and Prof Shivani Raina, Head, Department of Music, GDC Bishnah.
Ragini Rainu, India's young Sufi Diva, is the disciple of the legendary Maestro, Pandit Bhajan Sopori, She hails from Jammu (J&K) and represents musical family, Sufiana Gharana. The webinar was conducted in two sessions. During the first session, Ragini Rainu shared her knowledge and experience regarding Sufi Gharana, modern arts, classical art and encouraged the students to learn classical music for the successful career in the field of performing arts. She also mentioned about different institutions and organisations related to Indian music. Her style of singing enthralled the audience during the session. She also performed the Kalam of Sufi Saint Bhulle Shah Gazal “Ishq me ghairat-e-jazbaat ne rone na diya” and spellbound the audience. Her style was embedded with fluency, aesthetics and expression. In the second session, there was an interaction of the invited speaker with the participants, where all the queries of the participants were addressed smoothly.
Dr Anuradha Pandoh, Principal of the college and program chair, expressed her gratitude to the resource person for sharing her valuable knowledge which will definitely help the students to shape their career in the field of music. Red Ribbon Club, Government Degree College Bishnah organized activities for the implementation of Tobacco Free Educational Institute, an Initiative under National Tobacco Control Program- Declaration of Educational Institute as Tobacco Free Zone on 11th April,2022. comprehensive light on the life and vision of BR Ambedkar.Speaking on the ocassion, Dr

B.R. Ambedkar by highlighting his educational qualifications and his myriad writings.She
exhorted the students to follow the teachings of the architect of the Constitution of India.Prof

Ecoclub of Govt. Degree College, Bishnah in collaboration with Department of Botany of

ecoclub did plantation drive on 30 th March, 2022 along with the members of ecoclub in presence
of Principal Dr. AnuradhaPandoh. They planted species like Calliandrasps., Hibiscus sps.,
Zamia sps., Euphorbia sps., Aloverasps., Ashwagandhasps., Lemon grass, Amla etc. Today there
was a guest lecture on Medicinal Plants of J&K, UT. The resource person was Sh. O.P. Sharma
Vidyarthi (I.F.S.), Former Principal Chief Conservator, Deptt. Of Environment and Forest,Govt.
Of J&K.Heapprised and enlightened the students about the importance of medicinal flora of
J&K, UT. He also interacted with the students and stressed upon the various uses and benefits of
medicinal plants. He let the students know about the cuisine development from various medicinal
plants by way of makingpakora, sharbat,Lassi, tea etc. Dr. SumanBala Sharma, HOD deptt. Of
Botany and Convener of Ecoclub along with the members of Ecoclub coordinated the whole
event. She emphasized UT J&K exhibit varied type of topographical and climatic conditions and
is bestowed with different types of habitat which inturnharbour a great deal of diversity of floral
and faunal components. She further stressed that there is an urgent need to explore and
investigate these natural resources for future as many of these species remained unnoticed. The
main aim of such type of activities is to encourage students and generate interest and awareness

the college premises . The rally of students flagged off with placards and Anti-ragging banners
and slogans . The aim of the rally was to sensitize the students that ragging is a crime and it
can spoil the careers and lives of the students .The rally was organized to make the campus
ragging free and generate among students the spirit to say “NO to ragging in the campus”.

Anti Ragging Cell of GDC Bishnah, organized Poster Making Competition on “Ragging an
offense” on 23 rd of March 2022. The programme was initiated by Prof. Archana Bakshi and Dr.
Sapna Bhargav under the leadership of Dr. Anuradha Pandoh, principal of the college.
The aim of the programme on said topic was to generate awareness among the students
that ragging is punishable and it can ruin the life of students .Through the activity, students
were sensitized that there are many other peaceful ways of bonding , so they should say “No”
to ragging in the college. Prof. Hardeep Kour, Dr. Sarita Khajuria and Prof. Shvani Raina were
the judges on the occasion.
In the competition , first prize was bagged by Tania Sharma of B.a Sem-V , second prize by
Anmol Sharma of B.A Sem-V and third prize by Damini Spolia of B.A Sem-I

To commemorate the martyrdom of Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru, the NSS unit of GDC Bishnah organized a lecture, Pledge Taking Ceremony and a Plantation Drive as part of the ongoing Seven Days' Special Camp.The lecture was delivered by Sh. Kashab Kumar, Assistant Professor in History who threw extensive light on the life and vision of the martyrs.Then the students alongwith the staff members took the pledge to follow the path of nationalism and sacrifice shown by the Martyrs through their life.The NSS volunteers alongwith the Principal and staff members carried out the Plantation Drive in the Botanical Garden and the college campus where the plants like Stevia, Ashwagandha, Bottle Brush, Moringa, Neem, etc were planted.Prof Amit Kumar Sharma, NSS Programme Officer, allocated the duties to NSS volunteers for safeguarding the plants till they become tree.Speaking on the ocassion, Principal of the college exhorted the students to study the life and activism of our freedom fighters and emulate the same to make the nation great.The vote of thanks was delivered by Prof Amit Kumar Sharma.The NSS volunteers were also served the refreshment.

On the eve of International Water Day, the NSS unit of GDC Bishnah organized an Awareness programme in the College campus and an Awareness Rally through the Bishnah Town on the theme "Groundwater, Making the Invisible Visible"as part of Seven Days Special Winter Camp .The NSS volunteers went to the classes to make the students aware of the importance of the groundwater and emphasized on them to save water and help rejuvenate the traditional water bodies like ponds etc.Then the NSS volunteers organized an Awareness Rally through the Bishnah Town shouting the slogans like 'Jal hai to Kal hai', Anndata hai Ranbir Nehar, Na dayo ispe Kachre ka Kahar', 'Save Water Save Life'.Speaking on the ocassion, the Principal of the college exhorted the students to adopt a pro-environment Approach and save the water for this as well as future generation.Prof Amit Kumar Sharma, NSS Programme Officer applauded the enthusiastic and proactive approach in disseminating the wariness on the importance of groundwater.Later the NSS volunteers were served the refreshment.
GDC Bishnah organises Plantation cum Swachata Drive
On the 2nd day of the Seven Days Special Winter Camp, the NSS unit of Govt Degree College Bishnah organized a Plantation-cum-Swachata Drive around the Water Pond at village Bhatiyari of Halqa Panchayat Chak Avatara of Bishnah Block.Today being the International Day of Forests, the NSS volunteers, planted the plants of orange, Neem, Tunnu and Arjun around the pond.Then the volunteers carried out a Swachhata Drive there.They picked up the plastic as well as other waste from and around the pond.The waste so collected was later handed over to Municipal Committee Bishnah for its proper disposal.Speaking on the ocassion, Prof Amit Kumar Sharma, the NSS Programme Officer, awared the volunteers about the significance of International Day of Forests and the role of local communities and institutions in Afforestation for the mitigation of the impact of Climate Change.He also highlighted the significance of Water Bodies like ponds in keeping the Water Table stable.Later the NSS volunteers were also served with the refreshment.

The resource person for the program was Dr. Sushma Rani, from Ministry of Culture and the chief guest of the occasion was the principal of the college, Dr. Anuradha Pandoh. The aim of the lecture was to aware the students about the exquisite survival of Dogri Culture and language . She also briefed the students about the topics they have in their syllabi and educated them regarding the historical background of the subject. The Department of English of GDC Bishnah organized an extension lecture on the topic "Communication Skills and Personality Development ". The resource person for the program was Dr. Aksa Rao, from GDC Akhnoor and the chief guest of the occasion was the principal of the college, Dr. Anuradha Pandoh. The aim of the lecture was to aware students of the various methods to improve language and to communicate effectively. She also informed students of the various courses through which students can improve their language skills. The lecture was conducted under the supervision of head of the department, Prof Archana Bakshi, who welcomed the resource person on the occasion. Govt. Degree College Bishnah organised two days programme on Kaafiyan Shah Hussain from 4-
5 March 2022. The first day was the cultural programme where participants sang the recited
poetry of 16 th Century, Punjabi poet. On second day a seminar was organised titled ”Kaafyan
Shah Hussain: context and continuity. In this seminar, students of GDC Bishnah gave their
presentation on the context and continuity of Shah Hussain poetry. This programme was
specifically designed for the students of the Punjabi, to develop in them the holistic approach
towards literature. The first session made a connection between poetry and music. The first day
was cultural programme was a joint collaboration of Literary club, Department of Punjabi and
Department of Music of Govt. Degree College Bishnah. The second day seminar was organised
by the Department of Punjabi. Dr. Randheer Kour, Asstt Prof. in Punjabi and Prof. Shivani Raina
, Asstt Prof. Depatment of Music were the organisers .The programme was attended by the
teaching faculty, non teaching faculty and students of the college. The programme was chaired
by the principal GDC Bishnah. Dr. Anuradha Pandoh. The first day session was coordinated by
Jasleen Kour –SEM 1 student. Amtoz Singh Sem-I student played table and Ankush Kumar from
Sem-5 played Harmonium in the Singing programme.
A lecture was organised in GDC Bishnah on cyber awareness under cyber awareness
cell of GDC Bishnah .
On this day, Dr. Sunil Kumar Saliada , Asstt. Prof. in Hindi delivered a detailed
lecture on Cyber awareness such as cyber security, cyber spying, cyber bulling, phishing
,hacking etc. Dr. Saliada also gave details on how to protect against these crimes and what
are the different ways to complaint against them. The whole event wass compered by Prof.
Sumit Gupta Asstt Prof. in Mathematics. Dr. Anuradha Pandoh , principal of the

ONLINE WORKSHOP ON RURAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZED AT GDC BISHNAH.
An online workshop on the topic “Rural Entrepreneurship Development Program” was
organized by the Career Counselling Cell of Government Degree College, Bishnah under the
aegis of Monodarpan initiative of Government of India, on 14 th Feb. 2022, in collaboration with
Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education, Jammu. Ms. Shivali Choudhary,
Coordinator, J&K Rural Entrepreneurship Development Cell, was the key speaker of the session.
The online workshop was conducted under the supervision of Principal GDC Bishnah,
Dr. Anuradha Pandoh and the whole event was coordinated by Dr. Asha Singh, Coordinator,
Career Counselling Cell of the college.
Ms. Shivali Choudhary in her elaborated presentation explained about different types of
rural entrepreneurship and its importance. She also sensitized the students about different
government schemes and programs like Aatm Nirbhar Bharat and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan for
rural entrepreneurship development. She emphasized that rural entrepreneurship is the only way
to be self-reliant in India. The program was followed by an interactive session where all the
queries of the students were addressed.
Principal GDC Bishnah, Dr. Anuradha Pandoh expressed her gratitude to the resource
person for sharing her valuable knowledge about rural entrepreneurship that will help the
students to become self-sufficient through employment generation. The programme concluded

Mahotsav. Vasant panchmi the festival to pay obeisance to Goddess Saraswati, the
epitome of strength and beauty , was celebrated in GDC Bishnah with series of
competitions to create classical and musical sense among the students. The event
started with Saraswati worship and lamp lightening , offer flowers for worship by
principal, teaching and non –teaching staff and presented bhajan by Prof. D.S.
Manhas and Raga Vasant by Asstt. Prof. Shivani Raina HOD Music on 5 th of Feb
followed by poetry competition, on 6 th Feb devotional competition.
On 7 th Feb State mourning, as a mark of respect to Bharat ratna kumara Lata
Mangeshkar Ji, the condolence by GDC Bishnah. Moreover instead of 7 th Feb the
programme lect cum demonstration held on 8 th Feb 2021.The first invited speaker
Dr. Surekha Rani Asstt. Prof. in Music from GDC Kathua explained the Vasant
Panchmi festival with her poetry , elaborated and presented Rag Bahar.The second
invited speaker Asstt. Prof. Mukesh Kumar in Music (Vocal) GDC Hiranagar ,
mentioned and elaborated the students about Raga Mian Malhar with his
marvellous singing. The singing performances by invited speakers enthralled the
audience.

Bishnah.In the devotional song competition first prize secured by Akhshay Kumar,
second prize secured by Saiket from GDC Boys Udhampur , third prize secured by
Nisha Devi from GDC Hiranagar and Jasleen Kour from GDC Bishnah.. The

The NSS Unit and the Red Ribbon Club of GDC Bishnah organized an online lecture on ‘Voters as the Real
Rulers in a Democracy’ and a video competition on the topic ‘Significance of Voting in Democracy’ to
celebrate 12 th National Voters Day as part of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsava. The Resource Person for the
Online Lecture was Prof Mukesh Kumar Sharma, Department of Political Science, GDC Sunderbani, who
comprehensively explained the power of right to vote and voters in a democracy, the intricacies of the
democratic electoral processes, the role of media in presenting the truth for a sound public opinion, the
role of voters for exercising their informed choice for holding the representatives and the institutions
accountable to the people thereby strengthening the democratic ethos.Later all the students alongwith
the faculty members took National Voters Day Pledge. In the video making competition, Sweety Kumari
of Sem-III was adjudged the best for her video on the topic. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Anuradha
Pandoh, Principal of the college appreciated the extensive lecture by Prof Mukesh Kumar Sharma and
exhorted the students to get registered as voters to perform their basic duty of creating good

The NSS unit and Women Development Cell of GDC Bishnah organised a series of
online programmes to celebrate National Girl Child Day-2022 under the aegis of
Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.The programmes included Essay Competition on the
topic “Gender Equality is the key to National Development”, Poster Making
Competition on the theme “Educate the Girl Child to Give Wings to Her Dreams”
and Online Quiz on the topic “Gender, Equality and Rights”. A large number of
students participated in these Online programmes.The Essays were evaluated by
Dr Sapna Bharghav, Dr Randheer, Dr Sunil Saliada of GDC Bishnah and Prof
Balwan Singh of GDC R.S.Pura.In Essay Competition, Anmol of Sem-V was
adjudged as 1 st , Priya Charak of Sem-I as 2 nd while Vishesh of Sem-III and
Satwinder of Sem-I shared 3 rd position.The Posters of the students were adjudged
by the jury comprising Dr Ratika Sharma and Prof Rashmi Arya of GDC
Bishnah.Tania Mehra of Sem-V was adjudged 1 st , Varun Sharma 2 nd while 3 rd
Position was shared by Sonia of Sem-III and Asmat of Sem-II PG.In the online Quiz,
nearly 78 students participated and recorded their responses to the questions on
Gender, Equality and Rights.Dr Anuradha Pandoh, Principal of the college
applauded the enthusiastic participation of the students in these online
programmes and exhorted them to spread the message of gender equality far and
wide.The first three best entries in each of the programmes shall be awarded with
the mementos and the rest of the participants shall be given E-certificates of

The NSS unit of GDC Bishnah organized an online discussion on the Life of Swami Vivekananda and his iconic Speech at Chicago in 1893.A large number of NSS volunteers and other students participated in the discussion and threw light on the theme of discussion linking it with the contemporary predicament faced by the peoples of World at large and India in Particular.His message of all religions are true and take to the same destination emphasising on Universal Brotherhood was extensively discussed.It was also deliberated during the discussion that leaving the profit motive aside the world needs to express solidarity with one another for solving the problems of Climate Change.In this direction, his views on solidarity of all human beings can pave the path for an emancipatory world.Vivekanand's views on ethical and moral education for bringing out the perfect nature of human beings were also highlighted during the discussion.The whole discussion was moderated by NSS PO Prof Amit Kumar Sharma.

Govt Degree College, Bishnah today organised an lntercollegiate Seminar on the topic "Life &
Teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji" in order to commemorate the celebration of 550th Birth
,Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.The chief guest of the function was Dr Arvinder Singh Aman,
Additional Secretary, Academy of Arts, Culture & Languages. The adjudicators were Dr Arvinder
Singh Aman, Prof(Retd) Assadullah Wani, Dept of Urdu, University of Jammu and Dr Asha Gupta,
Principal (Retd).The chief guest along with other guests lighted the traditional lamp that symbolizes
knowledge and enlightenment. A Book Fair from Missionary Organisation was also organized
voluntarily by Sardar Paramjeet Singh ji in which different books related to the life and preachings
of Guru Nanak DevJiwere displayed.
The Resourse Person, Dr Aman highlighted the moral teachings of Guru Nanak ji imbibing human
values of 'Sarbat da Pallah' and impressed upon the audience the relevance of 'Kirat' to live a life of
austerity. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Assadullah Wani beseeched the students to be the
ambassadors of communal peace and harmony. The Principal of the college, Dr Kulvinder Kour
talked about the present corridor between Nankana Sahib and Kartarpur where Guru Ji was born
and spent his last life respectively. She also encouraged students to know the significance of
'Sangat' and patience which one can learn from the life of Guru ji.
The programme started with the welcome address by Dr Sandeep Kotwal. The seminar proceedings
was done by Prof Risha Kumari. A total of 9 colleges participated in the seminar. The first prize was

Cyber Awareness Cell, GDC, Bishnah under the patron ship of college principal Dr. Anuradha Pandoh organizes one day webinar on Cyber Security (Jagrukta) Awareness. Main motto behind organizing this webinar is to spread awareness among students and through them to society that how can we be aware of this cyber fraud which is spreading now a day’s very common. Resource person on this occasion is Dr. Preeti Dubey, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Computer Science, GCW, Parade. She spoke on different kinds of cyber fraud which is quite common now a days like phishing, malicious information, property, web attacks, screen share, malware etc. she elaborated all aspects related to cyber security and shows ways and means if someone come under such attacks that where a person can approach. This is the inaugural webinar of series which is going whole year in every month for the awareness regarding different kinds of cyber crime. NSS Unit of GDC Bishnah organized the cleaniness drive to clleans the pond at Bhatyari Village
As part of the 7 Days Special Winter Camp under Clean India Bharat, the NSS unit of GDC Bishnah in Collaboration of Panchayat Chak Avatara and MC Bishnah organized the Cleanliness Drive to clean the pond at village Bhatyari.The The NSS volunteers cleaned the surroundings area of the pond and also picked the solid waste from inside the pond.The volunteers then went for a door to door awareness campaign in the Bhatiyari village to keep the pond clean by not throwing the waste into it.The waste so collected was lifted by the Municipal Committee Bishnah for its suitable disposal. Sh Surjit Singh, Sarpanch of Panchayat Bhatyari appreciated the efforts of the NSS volunteers and exhorted them to focus on effecting the behavior change in the people for keeping the surroundings neat and clean.Later volunteers also visited the village Chak Avatara to chalk out the plan to clean the pond located there.They also organized a Swachhata Rally at village Chak Avatara where they used the slogans' Safai se nata jodo, Dwai se Nata Todo and Ghar Ghar Jana Hai, Swachh Bharat Banana hai to make people aware of the importance of Swachhata.The NSS volunteers also continued their Swachhata Drive of the Ranbir Irrigation Canal to create the portion of the canal in front of the College Gate as a model of Cleanliness for the shopkeepers and residents of Bishnah Town.The NSS Officer, Prof Amit Kumar Sharma accompanied the volunteers and appreciated the zeal and commitment of the volunteers for swachhata.

On the concluding day of 7 days Special Winter Camp under Clean India Programme, the NSS unit of GDC Bishnah organized Swachhata Awareness Rallies at village Bhatiyari of Panchayt Chak Avatara, Ratnal and Chorli, the Adopted Panchayats and finally at Bishnah town.The NSS volunteers shouted the slogans Safai Ko Apnana Hai, Bimari ko Bhagana hai' Ghar Ghar Jana hai Swachh Bharat Banana Hai, Galian Nalian Rakho Saaf, Gaon Banega Top-o-Top, 'Anndata hai Ranbir Nahar, Na Dao ispe kachre ka kehar'.The NSS volunteers used the college Bus to organize to reach the targeted venues.They also further cleaned the Ranbir Irrigation Canal to beautify its portion in front of the College.On this ocassion, Dr Anuradha applauded the sincere efforts of NSS volunteers and exhorted them to imbibe the values envisaged in the NSS motto 'NOT ME BUT YOU' and disseminate the message far and wide through their practical action oriented approach.Prof Amit Kumar Sharma congratulated the NSS volunteers on the successful completion of the 7 Days Special Winter Camp and the wider acceptance of the message disseminated by them to the residents of Bishnah Town and Adopted Panchayats.He also thanked Municipal Committee Bishnah for extending the much needed help in the programme.The valedictory function of the camp shall be held after the opening of the college after 5th Jan,2022.

As part part of the Clean India Programme, on the 4th day of 7 Days Special Winter Camp, the NSS unit of GDC Bishnah in Collaboration with the Municipal Committee Bishnah dug a new compost pit in the college campus and continued the cleaning of the waste from the channel of Ranbir Canal flowing through the Bishnah town.For solid waste management in the college campus, the volunteers completed the digging of the compost pit.Another team of the NSS volunteers cleaned the solid waste thrown in the channel of the Canal.Dr Anuradha Pandoh, Principal of the college applauded the practical approach of the NSS volunteers in creating the simple workable amenities on the college campus for solid waste management and in keeping the water bodies clean.Prof Amit Kumar Sharma, the NSS Pogramme Officer also appreciated the diligence and commitment of the volunteers towards the Swachhata campaign under Clean India Programme.

Speaker Mr. Sumit Gupta Assistant Professor, HOD Mathematics, GDC Bishnah shared a detailed description and analysis about the life and work of Srinivasa Ramanujan. He also highlighted and discussed about struggles and achievements of Ramanujan and also discussed the contribution of some Indian Mathematicians in various field. Students also through light on this day. Satvinder Koushal student of GDC Bishnah shared his views on significance of this day. On the occasion Prof. Harshal Sharma Assistant Professor Mathematics GDC Nowhera explained the extraordinary contribution of Sri. Srinivasa Ramanujan’s towards mathematical analysis, number theory, infinite series and continued fractions.
Students of both colleges attended the webinar with great zeal and enthusiasm and they learn the value of mathematics in our day to day life. Second day of NSS unit of GDC Bishnah Special Winter Camp as part of Clean India Programme 2021
On the 2nd day of 7 Days Special Winter Camp as part of Clean India Programme-
2021, the NSS Unit of GDC Bishnah in collaboration with Municipal Committee, Bishnah
continued the cleaning of Ranbir Canal flowing through the Bishnah Town in front of the
College Gate.Today the NSS volunteers undertook the Swachhata Drive on the other
bank of the Canal by picking the plastic and other waste material.The NSS volunteers
also picked the solid waste from inside the Canal.Later they went to the shopkeepers

inside the water bodies like Irrigation canals. The NSS volunteers alongwith the NSS
programme Officer also met the President of Mini Bus Association and entreated him to
ask the drivers and Conductors to convince the passengers traveling by their mini buses
not to throw the waste on the banks of the Ranbir canal and instead throw them in the
dustbin.After the drive, the NSS volunteers were given the refreshment too.
NSS unit of GDC Bishnah initiates the 7 Days Special
Winter Camp as part of Clean India Programme 2021
The NSS Unit of GDC Bishnah started a 7 day Special Winter Camp as part of
Clean India Programme-2021.The camp started with a well defined Swachhata
plan to clean the Ranbir Canal flowing through the Bishnah town in Collaboration
with the Municipal Committee Bishnah.The plan includes the cleaning of the
portion of Ranbir Canal infront of the College Gate and then beautify it to show it
as a model for the people of Bishnah to keep the Canal clean.The NSS volunteers
alongwith the workers and supervisors of MC Bishnah cleaned one bank of the
portion in front of the College Gate.The Municipal Committee engaged a JCB to
clean the heaps of waste thrown at various places.The volunteers also picked the
waste from inside the canal.Later the NSS volunteers convinced the shopkeepers
not to throw the plastic waste into the canal so as to keep the Canal clean.Dr
Anuradha Pandoh, Principal of the college appreciated the efforts of the NSS
volunteers and the workers of Municipal Committee Bishnah in keeping the Ranbir
Canal with full dedication.The NSS Programme Officer, Prof Amit Kumar
Sharma presented the vote of thanks.The volunteers were given refreshment also.
JKAP-4 th Security Bn in collaboration with Govt Degree College Bishnah
organized an awareness programme on Make in India/Atam Nirbhar
Bharat under Civic Action Programma-2021 in the premises of Govt
Degree College Bishnah. Dr S.D.Singh, ADGP Security, Director SKPA
Udhampur, Director SSG was the Chief Guest and Dr Anuradha Pandoh
was the Guest of Honour on the occasion.On arriving at the venue, the
Chief Guest inspected the Stalls of Ari Work, Paper Bags, Candle Making
from Police Department and Mushroom Cultivation installed by
Department of Botany, GDC Bishnah. The stalls were installed to make
the students aware as to how to become self reliant besides theie
studies. The programme started with lighting of the traditional lamp. Dr
Anuradha Pandoh formally welcomed the Chief Guest and other
dignitaries present on the occasion. In the symposium having the topic
Make in India/Atam Nirbhar Bharat, students threw light on the
different contours of Make in India/Atamnirbhar Bharat.Their
performances were adjudged by the jury comprising Sh Sanjeev
Khajuria, SP JKP, Prof Rashmi Arya, Dr Sapna Bharghav. Anmol from
Sem-V got 1 st , Mukti from Sem-III 2 nd while Ankush from Sem-V and
Riya from Sem-I shared the 3 rd prize respectively.Prof Amit Kumar
Sharma from GDC Bishnah and Dr Bazila Naseer, Consultant, PMFME
Deptt of Horticulture, Civil Secretariat also delved on the various
aspects of the theme. Speaking on the occasion, Dr S.D.Singh Jamwal
exorted the students to be confident of their capabilities and polish
them for their development as well as the development of the
nation.Sh Ashok Kumar Sharma, SSP, Commandant 4 th Security Bn
emphasized that India is a nation of youth and hence has immense
potential for contribution in realizing the dream of self reliant India
through skill development.The participants and speakers were given
mementos and cash prizes.The entire programme was compeered by
Dr Sunil Kumar Saliada, Prof Sunil Kumar and Sgct Sayeda.Amrit Kour,
Principal of GHSS Bishnah along with their staff and students was also
present in the programme. The vote of thanks was given by Mohd Aijaz
Bhat.The overall programme was coordinated by Prof Sumit Gupta of

the “Society of Language Promotion Club” under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The
students from all the semesters participated, out of which Sehrish Shah from Semester 3 rd got
first prize, Preeti Devi from Semester 5 th clinched second position and Monika Bassan from
Semester 3 rd got third prize. Damini Sapolia and Sandhya Bharti from semester 1 st got
Consolation prizes. Principal of the college, Dr. Anuradha Pandoh congratulated and applauded
the organisers as well as participants of the event for their active involvement in the activities
scheduled by college from time to time.

Department of Botany GDC Bishnah has organized a lecture/demonstration
programme on Mushroom Cultivation on 14 th of Dec,2021. Mr. Amit Gupta Junior
Agriculture Extn. Officer department of Agriculture was the resource person on the
occasion. Mr. Amit Gupta while delivering a lecture highlighted the importance of
mushroom Cultivation, a source of self employment by which students can
generate revenue from their livelihood by making small investments and thereby
can improve their socio economic status. He further demonstrated the various steps
involved in the cultivation of two types of Mushroom( Button mushroom and
Dingri).The principal of the College Dr. Anuradha Pandoh also encouraged the
students and inspired them to go for such agripreneurship to improve their
economic status .
The HOD of the Department Dr. Suman Sharma Convened the programme and
spoke on the importance of Mushroom, its nutritional and medicinal value to
generate awareness among the students in particular and others members of the
staff in general.Dr. Sheetu Raina presented vote of thanks. A large number of
students, teaching and non-teaching staff were present on the occasssion.
GDC Bishnah organises Online Lecture on “Career Opportunities in Music”
An online lecture on the topic “Career opportunities in music in different areas” was
organized by the Career Counselling Cell of Government Degree College, Bishnah in
collaboration with Department of Music under the aegis of Monodarpan initiative and Azadi ka
Amrit Mahotsav of Government of India, on 14 th December 2021. Dr. Bharat Bhushan, Music
Vocalist and Assistant Professor from GDC Hiranagar, was the key speaker of the session.
Dr. Bharat Bhushan explained about different Career opportunities in music in different
areas. He shared his knowledge and experiences regarding music and musical programmes with
the participants and encouraged them to learn folk or classical music for their successful career
in music. He also mentioned about different organisations related to music such as ICCR. This
online lecture was attended by nearly 70 participants, followed by an interactive session where
all the queries of the students were addressed.
The online lecture was conducted under the supervision of Principal GDC Bishnah, Dr.
Anuradha Pandoh. She expressed her gratitude to the resource person for sharing his valuable
knowledge which will definitely help the students to shape their career in the field of music. Ms.
Shivani Raina, Assistant Professor in Music coordinated the whole session. The singing
performances by Dr. Bharat Bhushan and Ms Shivani Raina enthralled the audience. The
programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Asha Singh, Assistant Professor in
Environmental Sciences and Coordinator, Career Counselling Cell of the college.
Prize Distribution Program Organized by GDC Bishnah
Prize distribution program was organized by the RED RIBBON CLUB of GDC
Bishnah. The RRC of GDC Bishnah had organized a series of Program in
collaboration with J&K AIDS control society w.e.f. 12 th to 20 th October, 2021. Many
students of the college had participated in the above mentioned program. In this
regard the cash prize of Rs. 1000/- for first position, Rs 750/- for second position
and Rs. 500/- for 3 rd position as well as participation certificates were distributed
to the winners and participants by worthy Principal Dr. Anuradha Pandoh in
presence of senior faculty members Prof. Hardeep Kour and Dr. Suman Bala. The
program was attended by all the faculty members of the College. The event was

GDC Bishnah Celebrates International Human Right Day
On the eve of International Human Rights Day, the NSS unit of Govt Degree
College Bishnah, under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsava, organized a
symposium on the topic Inequality “Anywhere in Any Form is a Violation of
Human Rights”. A number of participants participated in the symposium and
lashed their views on the topic. The performance of the participants was
adjudged by the jury comprising Prof Rashmi Arya. Prof Priyanka Mahajan and
Prof Ratika Sharma. Monika Sandhu of Sem-III got the first prize, Anmol
Sharma of Sem-V was adjudged as 2 nd and Mini Bhat of Sem-III was given third
prize. Tania Mehra of Sem-V and Damini of Sem-I were given the Certificates of
Merit. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Anuradha Pandoh, Principal of the college
exhorted the students to know about the rights and respect for the rights of
others. Prof Amit Kumar Sharma, NSS Programme Officer, threw light on the
Universal Declaration of Human Rights and its role in eliminating the
inequalities in societies. Dr Sunil Sladia also spoke on the occasion and
emphasized upon the students to voice for their rights for their protection.

The NSS Unit of Govt Degree College Bishnah under Clean India Programme organized the
volunteers’ seminar on Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan. Anmol Sharma of Sem-V gave her presentation on
Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, Kritika of Sem-I presented on Gandhian views on Cleanliness, Vishesh
Sharma of Sem-III threw light on Waste Management, Mini Bhat of Sem-III delved on importance of
Awareness on Sanitation for Behavioural Change, Tania Mehra of Sem-V explained the Harmful
Effects of Plastics.The aim of the Volunteers seminar was self awareness of the volunteers before
launching the awareness campaign on cleanliness for the people of Bishnah Town and the adopted
villages.Speaking on the seminar, Dr Anuradha Pandoh, Principal of the college appreciated the
approach of the volunteers for self awareness and then disseminating the message of cleanliness
among the people.Later the volunteers alongwith the NSS PO, Prof Amit Kumar Sharma visited the
office of the Municipal Committee Bishnah to know the modus operandi of the municipal committee
in waste disposal and waste management in Bishnah Town. The aim of the visit was to understand
the working of the committee viz-a-viz peoples response. Rajan Sharma, President Municipal
Committee Bishnah and Ajay Sangra, Executive Officer MC Bishnah comprehensively explained to
the volunteers the working, bottlenecks and the way forward as far as the waste management and
disposal is concerned. They exhorted the volunteers to effect behavioural change in people as far as
waste segregation at source is concerned.The volunteers thanked the representatives and officers of
the Municipal Committee Bishnah for the practical information regarding the waste Management
and its disposal.
GDC BISHNAH Organised an online Extension lecture on AIDS Awareness Program
RED RIBBON Club of GDC Bishnah organised an online extension lecture on AIDS Awareness.
This program was conducted to commemorate world AIDS day. The Speaker of the online
session was Dr. Anita Kumari (Assistant Professor in GDC Udhampur). She had given a
detailed presentation on HIV AIDS. In the talk she included all the aspects viz. symptoms,
contraction, prevention of the diseases. On this occasion, Principal of the college also
interacted with the students and talked about the need of the awareness about the
diseases. The senior faculty members of the college Prof. Amit Kumar Sharma & Prof.
Rashmi Arya were also present in the online session. The session was attended by all the
staff member as well the students of the college. The formal welcome speech and the vote
of thank was given by Dr. Ratika Sharma (Assistant Professor in Physics). The whole program
was organized by Nodal Officer of Red Ribbon Club [Dr. Sheetu Raina & Dr. Ratika Sharma],
under the guidance of principal Dr. Anuradha Pandoh.
NSS Unit of GDC Bishnah Celebrated Constitution Day 2021
NSS unit of Govt Degree College Bishnah celebrated Constitution Day 2021 by organizing a symposium on the topic "Constitution is the Foundation of Democracy" under the aegis of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsava.The participants in the symposium threw light on the importance of Constitution in establishing participative democracy in India.The jury members included Prof Kashab Sharma, Dr Sapna Bharghav, Dr Sushma Kumari.Anmol Sharma of Sem V secured 1st Prize, Monika Sandhu-III and Tania Mehra of Sem-V got 2nd and 3rd Prizes.Prof Hardeep Kour, Chief Guest of the programme highlighted the importance of Constitution in securing rights of the citizens.

GDC Bishnah organized Online lecture on Cancer awareness
An online lecture under the theme raising awareness on Cancer has been organized
by Red Ribbon club GDC Bishnah. The key resource person for the programme was Dr.
Rupali Fotra, Asstt. Prof. in Department of Zoology , Cluster university of Jammu. In her
lecture she enlightened the students about the alarming condition about cancer in India. She
emphasised on the importance of awareness of this disease for early detection and reduce the
number of causalities . Dr. Anuradha Pandoh, principal of the college also spoke about the
requirement of cancer awareness among the students. The programme has been coordinated
by Dr. Ratika Sharma Asstt. Prof. in Physics. The vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Sheetu
Raina Asstt. Prof. In Zoology. The entire programme has been organized by Dr. Ratika
Sharma and Dr.Sheetu Raina (Nodal Officers Red Ribbon Club) under the guidance of the
principal.
GDC Bishnah organized one day symposium in the memory of Padma Shri Padma Sachdeva
A one day symposium was organised in GDC Bishnah in the memory of Padma Shri
Padma Sachdeva by the Society of Language Promotion Club in collaboration with the
Department of Dogri, under the aegis of “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”
The programme started with a paper presentation on the brief life history of Shri
Padma Sachdeva by Dr. Sushma Kumari of Dept. of Dogri. Various students participated in
the programme that consisted of recitation of Dogri songs and poems. Prof. Shivani Raina of
Dept. of Music also sang a Dogri song. Afterwards, Dr. Anuradha Pandoh, the principal of
the college also deliberated on the importance of organisation of such programmes in Dogri
language. The programme was compered by Dr. Shallu Rani and vote of thanks was
presented by Dr. Sarita Khajuria, HOD Dogri.
National Unity Week Celebrated by GDC Bishnah
As part of National Unity Week being celebrated by GDC Bishnah, the NSS Unit in
Collaboration of the Red Ribbon Club of the college organized an online Inter-Collegiate
Essay Competitition on the topic "The Role of Sardar Ballabh Bhai Patel in
Strengthening the Unity and Integrity of India".The participants from different colleges
participated in the essay competition. The essays written by the participants were
evaluated by Prof Kamaljeet Choudhary, Assistant Professor in Hindi, GDC Samba and
Prof Rashmi Arya, Assistant Professor in English, GDC Bishnah. Amandeep Bandhral,
Govt Degree College Udhampur secured Ist Position while Antriksha, Govt. Degree
College(Boys) Udhampur and Sweety Kumari GDC Bishnah secured 2nd and 3rd
positions respectively. Dr Anuradha Pandoh, Principal of the College appreciated the
students for their participants in week long activities as part of the National Unity Week
and exhorted them to work harder to disseminate the message of Communal harmony
among the members of the society. The prize winners shall be given cash prizes and
other participants shall be given e- certificate of participation.
GDC Bishnah celebrated Sardar Vallabhbai Patel Jayanti by organising the Inter
College Slogan writing competition where the participants of various colleges actively
expressed their art of slogan writing. The theme “Importance of National Integration in
India” was well exhibited and reflected in the slogans.The competition was adjudged by
Prof. Sarita khajuria and Prof. Sapna Bhargav, the participants Diksha Thakur sem 5
from Gdc Majalta and Ayush Sharma Sem- 3, GDC Bishnah , Tania gandral sem 3
from GDC Bishnah and Zafar Hussain from GDC Rajouri stood 1st 2nd and 3rd
respectively.
The activity was conducted by Prof. Rashmi Arya and Prof Ratika under the guidance of
principal Dr. Anuradha Pandoh who applauded the participants by distributing the
certificates of merit among the winners.
National Unity Day Celebrated at GDC Bishnah
On the occasion of “National Unity Day” the NSS Unit in Collaboration with Career
Counselling Cell of GDC Bishnah organized an online symposium competition on the topic
“Role of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in the National Unification of India”on 31 st October 2021.
To begin with the unity pledge was taken by the Principal, Teachers and studentsto uphold
unity and integrity of the nation.
In all, 7 students participated in the symposium and lashed their views on the topic.
The performances of the students were adjudged by the jury comprising Prof. Rashmi Arya,
Dr. Ratika Sharma and Dr. Sunil Kumar Saliada on the basis of their content, pronunciation,
and presentation. Overall, Ankush from 5 th semester won 1 st position and Anmol Sharma from
5 th semester clinched 2 nd position whereas Sneha Motton from 3 rd semester bagged 3 rd position.
The wholeprogramme was conducted under the supervision of Principal GDC
Bishnah, Dr. Anuradha Pandoh. She also expressed her views on the crucial role of Sardar
Vallabhbhai Patel in integration of India.Further, Prof. Amit Kumar Sharma, NSS Program
Officer of the college threw light on the efforts of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in India’s
freedom movement and its unification. Dr. Sunil Kumar Saliada also spoke on the
integratrion of India by Sardar Vallabhai Patel. Dr. Asha Singh, Convener, Career
Counselling Cell of the college coordinated the whole event. At the end, vote of thanks was
presented by Dr. Sheetu Raina, Assistant Professor in Zoology.
GDC Bishnah organized week long programme under the action plan for implementing new India @75 (2nd phase)
Red Ribbon Club of GDC Bishnah in collaboration with J&K AIDS Control Society Department of
Health and Medical Education organized various activities on Awareness campaign regarding
HIV , TB , Blood donation and COVID. More than 50 students of the college had participated in
various activities. Regarding HIV Awareness Campaign students prepared self videos on the said
theme. Students actively participated in the poster making competition on TB awareness
Campaign. This Competition was Judged By Dr. Asha Singh, HOD EVS. The first, second and third
position has been secured by Pallavi Devi, Micky Verma and Sonia Kundal of Sem-3 rd
respectively. In blood donation campaign poster/slogan competition was organized on 18 th
October 2021. It was judged by Dr. Sapna Bhargav Asstt. Prof . The first , second and third
position has been secured by Sonia Kundal, Anjali and Anjli Kumari of Sem-3 rd respectively. The
mask making competition was also organized on 20 th October 2021 regarding COVID awareness
campaign. The winner of all these competition will be awarded with cash prizes .The e-
certificates were also distributed to all the participants by worthy Principal of the college Dr.
Anuradha Pandoh. The whole event was co-ordinated by Prof. Ratika Sharma (Nodal officer1
RRC) and Dr. Sheetu Raina (Nodal officer 2 RRC) under the guidance of Principal.
Navratri, the festival to pay obeisance to Goddess Durga
Navratri, the festival to pay obeisance to
Goddess Durga, the epitome of strength and beauty, was celebrated in GDC Bishnah with series of competitions to create the religious sense among the students.
The events started with Kalash making competition on 9th October followed by Bhajan competition on 11th October and Mantra and poetry competition on 12th October.
The valedictory function was concluded with prize announcement and distribution of certificates among students. Dr. Archana Bakshi, Prof. D.S.Manhas, Prof. Rashmi Arya and Dr. Sunil Kumar Saliada were members of the Jury.
The programme was organized by Prof. Shivani Raina, Dr. Shallu Rani and Dr. Sapna Bhargav under the patronage of Dr. Anuradha Pandoh, the Principal of the college.
