Internal Complaints Committee (ICC)

Government Degree College, Bishnah has zero tolerance policy for sexual harassment of its female employees as well as students. The College has implemented Government Acts regarding prevention of sexual harassment of women by formation of different committees. Government Degree College, Bishnah has constituted a Committee against Sexual Harassment i.e., Internal Complaints Committee comprising of staff as well as student representatives for implementation of UGC (Prevention, Prohibition and redressal of sexual harassment of women employees and students in higher educational institutions) Regulations, 2015. By constituting such committees, GDC Bishnah commits to build a congenial atmosphere to work especially for females and make the working environment free of sexual harassment.

Definition of Sexual Harassment

Sexual harassment includes such unwelcome sexually determined behaviour (whether directly or by implication) as:

1. Physical contact and advances;

2. A demand or request for sexual favours;

3. Sexually coloured remarks;

4. Showing pornography;

5. Any other unwelcome physical, verbal or non-verbal conduct of sexual nature.

Objectives of the Committee

1. To evolve a system in the institution for the prevention and redressal of issues related to sexual harassment.

2. To ensure the implementation of the UGC (Prevention, Prohibition and redressal of sexual harassment of women employees and students in higher educational institutions) Regulations, 2015 and properly addressing the complaints related to sexual harassment in the institution.

3. To create a safe working environment for female employees as well as students of the institution.

4. To raise awareness about different forms of sexual harassment in the educational institution.

Redressal of Complaints Related to Sexual Harrassment

The Aggrieved Women can drop a written complaint in complaint box installed in the Campus. Complaint box is checked after the stipulated time for any complaint received. She can also submit her complaint online via https://www.gdcbishnah.com/GrevienceForm.php. The Aggrieved female employee or student can contact any member of the ICC. The complaint received is processed as per guidelines set by POSH Act. The institution also ensures that confidentiality of sexual harassment case is duly maintained.
